Located in Western Australia, the Bunbury Trotting Club is one of the state’s premier regional harness clubs and every year they host an elite range of trotting events.
The club’s first race meeting was held in late 1952 and was made up of a six race programme with 14 starters in each event. From humble beginnings, the club and the track have enjoyed a series of advancements including a $1.36millon redevelopment that involved a new track designed around the world’s best harness track, the Solvalla in Sweden. The Bunbury track is now officially rated the fastest harness track in Australia.
Today the club’s biggest annual event is the Bunbury Trotting Club Cup that attracts a huge crowd of punters and spectators each year, although the track is home to nearly 30 other harness racing events throughout the season.
Other major races include the Hall of Fame (standing start), South Western Oaks (3yo) and the Battle of Bunbury (3yo).
The club’s usual meeting days are Tuesday twilight races and Saturday night meetings. They also host trials on Monday and Wednesday nights and have some special events scheduled on Friday nights.
Bunbury trots are an entertaining and exciting night out for any harness racing enthusiast. The club has an on-track racing radio broadcaster and a range of top-class facilities including a bar, tote and members area and Sky Channel means that the quality races held there can be broadcast across the nation.
The trotters track record at Bunbury for the 2500m standing start was set by Nacokee (NZ) on May 24, 2008 with a mile rate of 2:02.3.
Any of Australia’s leading online bookmakers provide betting markets on the Bunbury trots, so if you can’t make it along to the club then jump online and secure your wager on some of the state’s best trotting events!
